Back in my day it was called a bean bag toss.  Now it's Cornhole.  I really don't want to know where that term came from but, there is the 1st ever Cornhole Classic in Columbus this Friday night at 6pm at the Stillwater Pavillion.  It is a 16 team, double elimination affair and the money raised goes to support the Laurel Freedom Softball Team.  I'll give you the particulars:  Ringer Competition, Cornhole Calcutta, Ugly Sweater Contest, Food and Drinks and Raffle tickets.  NOW, with that being said, it was called a bean bag toss in my day, and I remember a game called Toss Across which was basically bean bags being tossed at a tic tac toe board widget.  It's all fun and games with Cornhole and the idea is pretty simple.  It's a fundraiser for girls softball which is awesome!  What threw me today was reading the flyer that says, and I quote, "American Cornhole Organization Rules Will Be Followed".  What?  There is an actual organization?  One of the terms in the organization rules is as follows:  "I fully understand that it is my obligation to determine, prior to the Columbus Cornhole Classic Cornhole Tournament, that I possess the proper physical and mental capabilities to participate".  WELL, bring it on!  I've practiced my form by bowling 30 years ago AND every now and then I vacuum the living room.  So I have the physical down...Not so sure about the mental capabilities, although I also used to play Battleship and for 2 weeks was undefeated in 1973!  Bring it on!!
