It’s often been said that Lou Reed’s influence was exceedingly disproportionate to his sales figures. That statement is proven by three of today’s biggest bands, which have performed his songs in the days following his death on Oct. 27.

In the above clip, Pearl Jam, no stranger to cover songs, played ‘I’m Waiting for the Man’ at Baltimore’s First Mariner Center. The song originally appeared on the Velvet Underground’s debut album, ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico.’

England’s Arctic Monkeys covered Reed’s biggest hit, ‘Walk on the Wild Side,’ at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. The video can be found below.

Arcade Fire, whose new album, 'Reflektor,' was released today, performed two songs, ‘Perfect Day’ and ‘Satellite of Love’ during a streaming NPR ‘First Listen’ session at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. Their take can be found at the 17:20 mark in the link.
