Rockin’ The Rivers Cancels 2020 Festival

On Monday (7/13) organizers of Rockin' The Rivers announced on their website that the event for this year has been cancelled, citing COVID-19 and the nearly impossible logistics of pulling off a live-music event with the current situation around Montana and the nation.

After months of monitoring and discussions with our team and local health officials, we’re absolutely heartbroken to announce that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Rockin’ the Rivers has to be postponed until August 2021.

This is not really surprising news, but it is sad to hear. This years lineup - the 20th anniversary of RTR -  was to include: .38 Special, Iron Maidens, Skillet, Black Stone Cherry, Jefferson Starship, Georgia Satellites, Steven Adler of Gun's n Roses among others. The 3 day festival "at the bridge near Three Forks" is traditionally a great time of music, camping and partying with many people taking breaks during the daytime and hitting up area attractions, like Lewis and Clark Caverns or floating the Jefferson river and bridge jumping nearby.

Some bands are touring this year, although not very many. Maybe you saw the news story floating around about Great White performing at the Dickinson First on First concert series last week in North Dakota (a generating some negative feedback for an apparent complete lack of social distancing). The Sturgis Rally is promising live concerts next month. The line-up looks a little light compared to previous years, with headliners including mostly B level performers, including: Lita Ford, Trapt, Killswitch Engage, Night Ranger, .38 Special, Jackyl and others.
