The summer blockbuster season is in full swing, with Hollywood rolling out some big releases in the past month or so. Top Gun: Maverick (which I should really go see before it's gone) kicked off the summer film season, followed by some other big-hype movies like Jurassic World Dominion and Minions: The Rise of Gru. The new Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder opens on Friday (7/8).

Escape the heat and catch a summer movie for just $5.

I'd probably go to more movies if the experience didn't cost so much. With a family of five, the price of tickets, popcorn, drinks, and snacks add up quickly. As KTLA reported, AMC Theaters nationwide are offering some relief for moviegoers this summer with the return of $5 Tuesdays. You can catch any movie, even new releases, for just five bucks on Tuesdays. That's over half off the regular adult ticket price of $11.95.

You'll need to join AMC's rewards program to participate.

The $5 Discount Tuesdays offer runs through October. To participate, you must be an AMC Stubs Rewards member, which is free to join at the basic tier level. If you buy your tickets at the theater box office, you'll need to show either a membership card or a "virtual" card on your phone to take advantage of the special. If you prefer to buy tickets online, you'll need to use the valid email address that you used when you signed up for their rewards program. Minimal restrictions apply for the $5 deal and you'll still have to pay additional fees if you choose to see an IMAX movie. But still, $5 for a first-run film is a great deal. Maybe I can actually afford to take the kids to a movie this summer in Billings.

90s Movies That Could Never Be Made Today

These movies include some of the biggest of the decade — a few even won Academy Awards. But all of them would have trouble getting made today.
