I Wonder… What Could Fill These Empty Lots In Downtown Billings?

In the last week, I noticed the Downtown Conoco finally being demolished. It hit my heart a bit, as that gas station (and the owner) became my favorite in the last few years. It was on my direct pathway home, was always clean and well-priced... and they took Apple Pay. Which, if you know me, means a LOT.

And now, with it being nothing more than another blank space downtown... directly across from the former US Bank & Burger King locations... I wanted to think about what I wanted to see end up there.

Here are my ideas to spiffy up the corner of 6th & 27th in Downtown Billings:

Dave's Hot Chicken Downtown

YES, I know. They JUST opened on Shiloh. But, I hate going over to Shiloh. People drive like the Indy 500 around the roundabouts... or they don't have a clue how to use them... so I avoid that part of town like the plague. So... Dave's Hot Chicken Downtown, Please.

Chick-Fil-A Downtown

Yep. I don't care about the traffic. And make this one open on Sunday.

Denny's

After losing the downtown Denny's in late 2021, I've missed the location sorely. The same reason I want Dave's downtown goes for Denny's. I don't enjoy driving over to King Ave West, pushing through traffic, just to go have a great breakfast. Though, I will say, Perkins has been a great replacement. Mostly.

Another Conoco

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a gas station come in across the street, on the south side, from Conoco. I'm a big fan of the Conoco brand, as they seem to keep up with technology the best. And, they don't require you to download their app just to pay with modern technology. (HINT, EXXON)

Things I Absolutely Will Be Angry About If They Appear

If any of these are considered, and approved, by Billings... I will be extremely disappointed.

• McDonald's
